ethiopia

In October 2019 ART-TOUR traveled around Ethiopia again.

This time we got acquainted with the ancient Christian Orthodox culture of the North-East of the country. The majestic source of the Nile, amazing round-plan wooden churches on Lake Tana, palaces and fortresses of Gondar, pre-Christian steles and the modernist Orthodox cathedral of Saint Mary of Zion in Axum – the ancient capital of the  Queen of Sheba times. And of course the famous Lalibela with its unique churches carved into the rock from top to bottom.

And for special exotic gourmets, we visited the southeast of the country – Harare – a city where Christians and Muslims peacefully coexist, mixing and melting antiquity into one multi-colored and many-sided phenomenon.
